SolidCore Systems – Profile

February 15, 2005

HQ: Palo Alto, CA
Founded: 2004
Management: President/CEO Rosen Sharma is only 33 but he has been around, perhaps too much. He has a PhD in Computer Science from Cornell and he also founded VxTreme which was acquired by Microsoft in 1997 as well as Stratum8, Ensim, and Green Border.
Investors: Solidcore raised $20M in February 2005 from Menlo Ventures, Sevin Rosen, and Matrix Partners.
Business Model: Company sells security products that locks down anything not authorized to run on the server. Its software can help breakage from changes made internally as well as from external attacks. Company plans to sell 100% through channels and to keep costs low by being a Indian company with more or less of a Palo Alto PO box.
Competitors: Symantec , CA and McAfee.
Dirt: Company is nearly in stealth mode. It doesn’t offer much info on its products, there is little news, and no customers offered up. But they have a web site, a good focus and a team – enough to get them their first $20M investment.
