AlphaBloggers in the Mist
This is inside baseball for readers who don’t track blogging and syndication, but we are here in New York for the IDG Syndicate event and have been surrounded on all sides, from the JetBlue flight into the hotel bars of midtown, by alphabloggers the likes of Robert Scoble, the Corante guys, Ross Mayfied, Jeff Jarvis, and Rafat Ali. We take note that today’s alphablogger sports an oversize backpack for that commando-who-just-parachuted-in-with-his-laptop-look and treats events like a fraternity reunion.
Because alpabloggers get points for geekiness and because geekiness allows for erratic, non-corporate behavior, there is plenty of that on display. A highpoint came during a coffee break, when one alphablogger, Marc Canter, bellowed (silencing a crowd of 100+) “All hail Scoble” when Robert Scoble made his appearance at the event, overstuffed backpack in tow.

Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey’s Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
