Google Moving Mountains
January 27, 2005
File this under perk porn. We frequently hear conversations about the perks that Google employees recieve - the Segways, the holiday Brinks truck with Santas passing out $1000 cash to every employee. Often it comes from employees at less fortunate start-ups who want the same perks as Google employees. Now we learn that with snow piling high in the Sierras, Google took the whole company for an offsite retreat and rented out Squaw Valley. Alas, locals were disappointed that the bus loads of dot-com millionaires were cheap, and in fact many had to share rooms with strangers. Maybe Google is not the castle in the air we are led to believe.
