Seeking to improve on its lackluster fourth quarter 2011 revenue numbers, solar manufacturer China Sunergy (CSUN :NASDAQ) announced today that it has begun manufacturing solar modules in France.

Working with France’s KDG Energy, China Sunergy will deliver its first order of solar modules to renewable energy developer Akuo Energy Group.

Building modules in France will give China Sunergy better access to the still lucrative European solar market. That has to be welcome news to investors as the company’s share price has dropped over 86 percent in the last year. A

And using KDG Energy’s excess manufacturing capacity is definitely smarter in the short-term to improve their manufacturing capabilities, especially with the company looking at growing production numbers but decreasing profits.

Shares of China Sunergy were down 1.7 percent in late day trading.
