Start-up Snares Amazon Exec

ClickZ reports that behavioral targeting company Poindexter Systems has hired Dr. Andreas Weigend, formerly Amazon’s chief scientist. On the face of it, this looks like a coup for privately-held Poindexter, which raised $8MM last September.
We’ve been watching this space, which includes companies like Revenue Science and Tacoda Systems, with great interest because we believe this market opportunity could be big enough for several winners. The addition of a chief scientist from an established player like Amazon could provide a substantial advantage for Poindexter as it seeks partners, customers, and mind share.

    Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey’s Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
