Venture Capital – The New Rotary Club

Time and again we have seen captains of industry shift gears and ride out their remaining professional life with a VC firm. The latest announcement is that Staples founder Thomas Stemberg, at age 56, has joined Boston’s Highland Capital Partners. One draw for Stemberg and the like is that they don’t suffer from as much traveling and certainly not the hassles of managing huge workforces. Another is that they get to invest money into the VC firm, something that typically only institutions are able to do.
