Perry says that the UK has become the 2nd best VC environment in the world after the US and that the UK has gotten a lot of things right, while elsewhere in Europe…”If you take a country like Italy, you have to pay someone for 12 months if you want to make them redundant, which makes it really difficult for startups.” He adds, “Another factor is the level of red tape encountered when setting up a new business: in the UK, it takes two or three days, whereas France takes about two months.”
