Founded: 2001
Management: Ashok Narasimhan is Chairman, CEO & Co-Founder. He was founding President of Wipro, India’s largest IT company. He was also head of marketing and BD for Verifone and sold a company – Prio – at the top of the market to Infospace.
Investors: $10M in Series B funding led by Charles River Ventures, with additional funding from all of the existing investors WestBridge Capital Partners, NeoCarta Ventures, Jumpstartup, Acer Technology Ventures, and Silicon Valley Bancshares. Series A was $8M.
Business Model: Outsourced management of wireless applications including games, music clips, ringtones, movie trailers, MMS alerts, and live sports updates. Customers are: portals, content publishers and aggregators, MVNOs and wireless telecom operators. Company believes that there is a lot of potential business here and that outsourcing to India will be render First World competition anemic.
Competitors: Jataayu
Dirt: July has not yet announced any big customer wins, and it is not clear which sector will account for their revenues. July needs to prove itself before companies will entrust critical mobile data operations to them.
